The Deceitful Have No Pizza

Angela posted a new comic all over the place tonight: The Deceitful Have No Pizza. A fable comic in which the moral is "Don't be a dickweed." It's about a pair of hairdog pizza delivery folk in the 80s to a grumpy-puss wastoid who rips them off in the end.

Jess Dodo

This Dodo started out as Zooey Deschanel, then turned into Jess from New Girl. And then neither. Or both.

In other news, the Awesome Possum Kickstarter for the natural science comic anthology was a success. We made 241% of our goal with 102 backers. Getting some proof printed today. Hopefully a proof of the book tomorrow. And if we're lucky, all the final prints by Friday.

This coming week, Abe and I will be driving to Vermont in a 16' truck and towing or car. It will be intense. So the Etsy shop will be down for about a week and if I can't mail the Kickstarter rewards before we move. They will be mailed from Vermont.

Exciting times at Chez Dodo.

Science items!

Wowee. Took long enough, but we finally have new items up for sale in the Etsy store. We will be adding more until finally everything is up! We might even add some original artwork. Should be some good stuff.

First up is the comic Angela made after learning all about the horseshoe crab in her Zoological Illustration class fall quarter. She made this comic over winter break because she was exploding with interesting information about this creepy little animal.

Then the poster that spawned the research that led to the comic. This poster was an assignment in her class first quarter, but the only rules were that it had to be about the crab. Which meant doing her own research. It was hard to pick a topic with so much information about these weird guys.

Last but certainly not least, the tapir poster! You have probably heard about Angela's fascination with tapirs over the last year or so. This is why. She knew she would have to pick a topic for her Vertebrate Illustration class. And tapirs are adorable.

So go grab your favorite posters and comics now. We also have lowered the price on the 2011 comics collection from $20 to $15 so grab it before they are all gone.

We were at Olympia Comic Festival on Saturday and as always, we had a blast. Spent way to much at Danger Room. Also got to meet the fantastic Hannah Fisher who made "It Was Farts," which I saw lots of people carrying around.
Here are some of the $2 water color doodles I did while there.

Astronaut guinea pig

Cocky Kirk

Sassy Uhura

Tax mole

Grumpy Spock

Squirrel in love

A Kirk that turned into Bones

Cat-like tapir

Corgi catching a squirrel

Injured dodos

Nisa for her stitches out today from having her fatty rumors removed. Poor thing. Here's what she looked like when we brought her home last Friday.

And here's what she looked like a few days later.

So it's no wonder Abe's theme this week is injured dodos

Theater employee dodo

Abe and I met at Metro Cinemas. So for no particular reason, here's a dodo of to one in particular. She just really looks like she could have worked there.

Business dodos

Well don't these dodos look spiffy all dressed up in their way to work. The lady Dodo was drawn all with the supplies Angela got in this months art snacks box. (See artsnacks.co)

Jump rope dodos

This one's all me, but was inspired by Abe's hula hoop idea from last time.

007 Dodos

Some James Bond dodos. Of course, Abe's idea. I forgot to post last couple if weeks because I was so busy! Two finals, end of quarter release at work, and I signed up to do a Real Change illustration in the middle of all that like a big dummy.

Upcoming appearances

Good news!
Angela will be at Exterminator City in Greenwood, Seattle, WA on April 5, Saturday. It is a small underground comics market and the more people come the better! It should be good.

Then on June 7, Saturday, Abe and Angela will be at the always awesome Olympia Comics Festival.

These two appearances nicely bookend Angela's last quarter of the Natural Science Illustration program. So there will be a good chance of new natural science themed comics and prints.

Dodos and their pets

New week of dodos. Next week I might not use graph paper...

With a gold fish. Because gold fish crave their walks.

Of course a dodo with its corgi based on Ernie. Because every corgi I draw is based on Ernie, the best dog ever.

This really seems like the most convenient way to take your bird for a walk.

I think this is my favorite. That is a capybara. I was inspired by animalssittingoncapybaras.tumblr.com. capybaras are the world largest rodent and incredibly cute and look really mellow.

Blast it!

Well, I have put it everywhere else, so I am adding it here too. Angela now has a Society 6 shop where you can currently buy art prints and pillows and totes! Amazing, right?
That chimera is the one available on shirts, totes, pillows, and even a shower curtain. Weird stuff, right?

ALSO!!
Abe has some of his beautiful photography up for sale on SmugMug! And if you haven't been keeping up with his Shot of the day project for 2014, you should be. Great stuff going on there.

If you aren't a fan on our Facebook page, go for it. When we hit 50 people, one lucky dog (or human I guess) will get their own portrait dodo avatar. Like the ones smothering this page.

OK. I will leave you to now browse through all the awesomeness in those links.
